Your wellness exam at Southern Charm Wellness Retreat
What you should expect from your wellness visit.
All participants attending the wellness retreat will receive a scheduled wellness exam. The exam is always optional, but is included with your visit. The pre-paid visit will not be refunded if you decide to opt out of the exam or if you miss your scheduled appointment. Your visit will be scheduled prior to your arrival and you will be given a date and time prior to your arrival. If you need to change your appointment, please let us know immediately so we can reschedule your appointment as soon as possible. If there are no time slots available, unfortunately we cannot offer a refund. A copy of your results will be sent to you in a pdf format to your forwarding email. If you would like your results sent a different way, please let or medical coordinator know at your visit. If you have any questions about your exam, please let your medical coordinator know by contacting her through our portal.
At your wellness visit, the doctor will:
- Review your blood pressure, heart rate, height, weight and body mass index (BMI).
- Check your temperature
- Ears will be examined
- Eyes will be examined
- Throat will be examined
- Review your current health problems, as well as your medical, surgical, family and social histories.
- Review your current medications if needed.
- Conduct a health risk assessment if needed.
- Provide nutrition counseling if needed.
- Discuss an exercise plan to fit your lifestyle if needed.
- Discuss smoking cessation and arrange for counseling, if needed.
- Discuss fall prevention if needed.
- Discuss advance care planning if needed.
- Discuss preventive screenings recommended by evidence-based practice guidelines that are indicated for you based upon your age, risk factors and family history.

Bring these items to your visit:
- A list of current prescribed medicines, supplements and over-the-counter medications
- A list of your patient care team—any specialists you see for various types of care
- Be prepared to review your family medical history.
